Alliance - Building Partnerships for over 30 Years

Thank You and Happy Holidays from Alliance!

As we near the close of 2016 (where did it go!?!?!?) I find it natural to reflect on the events of the year. I hope you don’t mind indulging my analysis and thoughts about 2016 and our Alliance Group of Companies.

I want to start with the Truss plants because we knew we had challenges. Applying our customary persistence and perseverance, so many positive initiatives happened there last year. Chuck’s team has committed to the process of “lean strategies”. The morale is high and the efficiency and quality is showing on the jobsite. There is no doubt that everyone is excited and proud of their associates and are confident of their future. Shared credit goes to the synergy and efforts of the Alliance Group of Companies as a whole. New fabrication methods and training in the truss plants became a real plus for Alliance Customers. Reduced errors on customer orders benefits everyone. Increased confidence by our Engineered Wood Team boosted commercial truss sales, and the teamwork between those entities will continue to strengthen as they build confidence in their newfound team approach.

New IT systems and some fantastic new employees contributed to our successes. What else? Two new hardware locations, additional pallet customers, an updated website, additional trucks, photo deliveries, HR training and a new employee portal that enables our associates to check out everything from evaluations to how well their 401K has performed, a new premium appearance grade stud, our Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance program negotiated a zero increase for all colleagues for 2017. A long term associate, Jose Bustamante, promoted to Manager in our QC yard while Nico Rodriguez met the management challenge of increasing efficiency in our Casa Grande yard. I’ve seen so many more positive advances this year that I could go on and on. I’m sure I have forgotten to list some important ones (sorry-I am the old guy of the team!). The individual companies and teams are performing remarkably as a smoothly-running, well-oiled machine. I am so proud of our teams!

The conclusion of my reflection is that this year is one of my favorites over the last thirty plus years. We stumbled along the way, for sure. The measure of a strong team is that we identified the areas where we needed to improve and then self-administered shots of adrenalin in every facet of our Group to fix what wasn’t working. It was all hands on deck! Our truck drivers became sales prospectors who were coming in and reporting on new projects that we needed to go out and earn. We had customers trying our hardware and trusses for the first time - then repeating - which is super cool. Our new website directed some new customers to our door. Our HR improved practices and communications via a new general quarterly newsletter as well as an Employee only newsletter. Our yards and folks were working to be more efficient with a priority of safety in our workplaces. The dynamics of the teams, locations, expertise and personalities are all working together to help customers – and enjoying it in the process. Our goal of doing more for our customers so that they can do more was evident as our truss and hardware operations continued to grow.

I'm not sure how many people get a chance to be proud of their work. I wish everyone could experience the pure joy of working with a high performance team. It is incredibly rewarding. I think of Alliance as a mechanism for all of those onboard to be proud of themselves and their crew members. We need to continue to challenge ourselves and each other, of course, while adapting to necessary changes. Our future is bright if we continue to do our best to provide an exceptional experience for our customers while caring about each and every one of our colleagues. As we reflect on 2016, please take a moment to share in my pride in all of our Teams. Alliance will successfully be the largest and the best contactor supplier in the west, and that is a credit to each and every Alliance Team Member!

I encourage all of us to continue to strive for an even better performance in 2017. Let’s capitalize on our synergy and spirit of cooperation toward a common goal to always find ways to improve in each of our respective work areas. We can all agree, I believe, that when we have achieved 100% in all areas that we critique, we are a team of companies that cannot be beat in the marketplace while it is also a home away from home for our colleagues.

Above all, I extend the collective gratitude of the Alliance Group of Companies to our valued customers. Choosing us to help you build your business is greatly appreciated. I speak on behalf of the entire Alliance team when we say we hope you will continue to allow us to serve you and your families and teams.

Please accept my sincerest best wishes to you and your families for a Merry Christmas and a great 2017! True Carr
